A Home on Top of a Mountain

One day this fall, Jordan and I crossed the bridge, drove through the tunnel, and came out in the Redwood Forest...

We stopped at Confusion Hill...

...and checked out The Legend of Bigfoot...

Before reaching our final destination.

It was packed with sunshine and treasures...

Here is Dryfus being a butch mountain dog:

The truck is a nice touch, no?

There was a cat on a hot hot tub.

It was like being in a hippy fairytale.

Dollar Night

Horses used to occupy large chunks of my life, yet I'd never been to a horse race.

Turns out, the racetrack is the perfect melting pot of all my vices.

Especially on Friday nights when admission, beer, hot dogs, and bets all cost $1 and Super Diamond, a Neil Diamond cover band, plays between races.

Here's a few highlights*

The insider tips.

The thrill of victory.

The crush of defeat.

The ridiculous background jam sessions.

The soggy, technicolored nachos.

And this guy.

*Had I been in charge of the camera, this post would include actual pictures of the actual horses.

All Summer In a Day

The past few months have been action packed. I didn't have a chance to document or record nearly enough of this amazing summer.

One night Natalie arrived on my doorstep with friends and bicycles.

They rode to San Francisco all the way from Portland!

Natalie's visit overlapped with the Fourth of July. Here are my neighbors and I kabobbing.

And I baked a cake!

Movie in the Park night exists in SF as well.

Jake Ryan has lots of fans in SF.

Dryfus got a silly haircut

Apparently, I go hiking now.

This is The Bay Area.

Do you see the city?

I've developed strong feelings for California artichokes.

And mussels.

Magical things always happen in San Francisco. Like the time Tammy and Megan came to visit on the same day!

Ah...just like the good old days at Town House 10!

And then Danielle appeared!

Chicago came to town.

Even though there was no Old Style, we did our best to represent.

Jon and Roger gave me my first Moon Cake.

Moon Cakes are traditionally given during the Chinese Moon Festival. They represent good luck, fortune and friendship.

Hooray for friends and neighbors!
